So if any of you have been keeping up with my goings on in Poland we have been fighting hard to get our SuperFinal (Polish Super Bowl) on National TV. We have created a buzz on facebook and with the help of all the imports and other Polish citizens of our small football community we have had this thing spread rapidly. The next step is to get the rest of Europe on board. The task of writing a press release was given to me. This may seem like a small task but I took as a serious one due to the fact it would be displayed on two high traffic websites, http://www.Europlayers.com and http://www.ifaf.info (International Fedaration of American Football). Well guess what its on the front page of both websites!!!! You can read it below:

American Football is the fastest growing team sport in Poland. In less than 6 years the league has gone from a 4-team mini-league in which everyone made the ‘playoffs’ to a successful 31-team, 3-division organization with imported American talent from the NFL, AFL and top college conferences such as the Big Ten.

With awareness of football growing rapidly and the quality of play improving at the same rate, the Polish League of American Football (PLFA) will be taking a huge step this season by bringing the sport into the homes of many of Poland’s 40 million citizens. This is because, for the first time, the PLFA championship game, the PLFA SuperFinal (formerly known as the Polish Bowl), will be televised nationally. PLFA SuperFinal VI will be played on July 17th in Bielawa, a day after the IFAF Senior World Championship.

To make this happen the PLFA is taking an unorthodox approach, by creating an international “Get Football on TV” petition. The goal is to get 50,000 people to sign the petition in order to prove to companies, sponsors and advertisers that football is getting popular not only in Poland but in the rest of the continent as well. Currently the petition is at 4,400 and growing. With the support of the rest of the players, teams, leagues and federations of European and International football this petition can lead to more than just support for one country but indeed for entire international football community.

To be a part of this movement just click on the link:http://www.petycjaplfa.pl/ and sign the petition (signing doesn’t cause any personal data to be provided to third parties). This will be the first small step in spreading a sport that is currently the guilty pleasure of a relatively small group of enthusiasts (and not to mention almost everyone in America) to the European masses.

Watch Now All 8 Episodes here

If you have an HD TV this show goes to a whole new level. Since I cannot enjoy the simple pleasures of watching tv I have to search all over the internet for illegally streamed shows. I’ve become quite good at it where I even started to watch some of the dumbest movies on the planet just so I can.  But I stumbled upon the  BBC Human Planet Series and I have been so impressed with the filming of the whole thing.  Great narrating interesting stories and for all our differences these people living in remote islands, jungles or deserts face the same exact problems we face in the metropolitan.

If you enjoy seeing how different cultures survive in obscure areas of the world or just like seeing amazing landscapes this is definitely worth sitting back and watching on a lazy day.

The most memorable moment in one episode was when two guys who live in the jungle spot a bee hive 5 stories up in a tree. They get excited because they can finally get honey. The one guys says “Man I have to go up there and get that. My wife has been pissed because she hasn’t had honey in a long time”. So dude climbs up a 5 store tree (free hand) and gets stung about 100 times just get a small amount of honey for his family. I guess no matter where you are from women will always get you to do crazy shit. So I have a link above where you can watch all 8 episodes for free in your spare time. Thank me later.

This should be watched by anyone embarking on a new journey or plan introducing something new to the world. I love videos like this because it is a constant reminder of what my goals are and how much more I need to do before I leave Poland. I beg you to watch and hopefully it urges you to make that next step. I will be posting more of this documentary through out the month….

INFLUENCERS is a short documentary that explores what it means to be an influencer and how trends and creativity become contagious today in music, fashion and entertainment. The film attempts to understand the essence of influence, what makes a person influential without taking a statistical or metric approach.

Written and Directed by Paul Rojanathara and Davis Johnson, the film is a Polaroid snapshot of New York influential creatives (advertising, design, fashion and entertainment) who are shaping today’s pop culture.

“Influencers” belongs to the new generation of short films, webdocs, which combine the documentary style and the online experience.

Wow its been a while. Seriously crazy busy. Practice started, new player is coming in this week and flag football season to put the finishing touches. Analyzing fabric for jerseys is something i really didn’t see in my near future. But none the less this Saturday evening was a promising evening.

It kicked off at a Swan’s house to celebrate his birthday. I called him while I was on my way to ask if he needed me to go to the store and pick something up. “Yeah we need more alcohol. A lot more”. Well when I get to the house totting a rather large bottle of vodka I see this:

"Yeah You Sure You Needed More Vodka"

You gotta love the party mentality hear. Trust this wasn’t even half the stock. Insane. So of course everything kicked off well.

So after trying to put a dent in those bottles I headed down town. This wasn’t my typical go out dancing and what not. I just had a series of conversations with random people that absolutely just left me dumb founded.

The absolute quote of 2010 was made by this young man who approached me in the street just to say whats up and to say it was cool that there are black people in Wroclaw. Some how, and I have no idea how we even got to this topic, he proceeded to explain his theory why black people have larger physical features than other races. Now many of you think I may be going to something like penis size (get your mind out the gutter). Well this brilliant gentleman, of great imagination believed that he  discovered the reason black people have larger noses.

“Well I have this theory that the reason black people have big noses is because of the wind”.  You have got to be shitting me. Really??? In the middle of Rynek I was screaming laughing so hard that it took me to the ground. Well he must of assumed that it was a crystal clear analysis so he found no reason to elaborate on that theory, you know just clear up any confusion. I know that black people may be of African decent and typically when I think of Africa I think of how hot it is. I don’t think most people say “Africa. Yeah that place is pretty windy. But those Africans have noses to with stand the wind”.  So I apologize for MY ignorance because I failed to grasp his theory. I assume that it didn’t help that I was laughing and letting him know that it was the single most incredibly bizarre thing I ever heard in my life.  Oh it exceeded some levels of dumb-fuckery that I couldn’t imagine. Funny as all hell, but ignorant.  After a few more minutes of ridicule I gave dude a pound and thanked him for really bringing my night to a joyful end. Seriously it was nothing offensive or any ill will. It was just a young college student just trying to make sense of this whole diversity thing and me being absolutely open minded to new schools of thought.
